Easy Ways to Take Care of Your Candles

Candles have been used for centuries to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in our homes.

In this article, we will explore various ways to maintain and extend the lifespan of your candles, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience

BEFORE LIGHTING

Before lighting your candle, make sure to trim the wick to about ¼ inch. It helps prevent smoke, soot, and uneven burning. If the wick is too long, the flame might flicker or get too big.

Avoid cutting the wick too short, as this may cause the flame to struggle to stay lit.

1. Trim the Wick

2. Place the candle in a suitable holder and avoid drafts

Keep your candle safe by placing it in a stable, heat-resistant holder. This protects the surface and reduces the risk of fires.

Avoid putting candles near flammable stuff or in drafty spots to prevent uneven burning or any potential dangers

WHILE BURNING

3. Ensure Even Burning & Avoid Overburning

When you light it for the first time, allow it to burn until the entire top layer forms a pool of melted wax. This helps prevent tunneling, where the wax only melts in the center, leaving unused wax along the edges.

For long-lasting enjoyment, limit each burning session to a maximum of four hours.

To extinguish the flame, avoid blowing it out, as it can make hot wax splatter.

Instead, use a candle snuffer to gently cover the flame and extinguish it without creating a mess. This method also helps prevent smoke from filling the room.

4. Extinguish the Flame Safely

AFTER BURNING

Keep your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, as excessive heat can cause the wax to soften or warp.

It’s best to store them in their original packaging, this will help preserve their fragrance and prevent dust or debris from accumulating on the surface.

5. Candle Storage Tips

If your scented candles start to lose their fragrance, simply light the candle for a short period and allow the scent to disperse throughout the room.

This simple trick will bring back the delightful aroma you love.
